काग
काग घर छेउ आई कराए भन्छ - केही खबर ल्याउँछ अनि झर्कंछ - काग कराउँदै गर्छ पीना सुख्दै गर्छ चन्खो कागको कथा सानै छँदा पढेको सुन्छु तर काग भन्दा कोयली चन्खो कागले कान लग्यो भन्दैमा काग पछि कुद्नु? कागको बथानमा हाँस पनि त हुनु भएन ! कुकुर कुकुर को काम पनि छैन फुर्सद पनि छैन अनि कुकुर-बिरालो जस्तै न बाझ्नु नत्र घरको न घाटको हुनु पर्ला लोभी कुकुरको कथा पनि सानै छँदा पढेको हुन्छ खुबै विश्वासी, मालिक भक्त बनी स्वर्ग पुग्छ तर कुकरले 'के' पनि नखाई यता कता एकै बिहानै आएको भने! गाई-गोरु कसम गाईको मांसु खानेको अनि गाई हत्याको पाप लागोस् भन्नेको पनि कारण गाई जस्तै सोझो म मान्छे ठगिने पो हो कि फेरि गाई-गोरुको बथानमा मलाई पारेर गाई-गोरु कै मोलमा बिकिने न त भएर गाई-गोरु गोठको सोतरमा सुतिने पो हो कि ! गोबर्धन पुजा गोबर्धन पहाड नै उचाले होलान् भगवानले सत्ययुगमा घर-बारको भार थाम्न नै आई कलियुगमा अनि उचाल्न पनि हम्मे-हम्मे पर्छ हामी मानवलाई जब कि यी मानव नै लिनपुग्छ रुप दानवको पनि प्रभु आईपुग्न परयो आजै यस विकट पुग-अपुगमा नत्र सार्थकता के रह्यो गोबर्धन पुजाको यस युगमा! म्हपुजा / किजापुजा देवी लक्ष्मीको स्वागत पुजा गरी म्हपुजा आफ्नै गर्नु छ काग- कुकुर - गाई-गोरु - गोबर्धन सबैलाई पन्साए पछि बलिराजा सम्झी भइलो र देउसी खेल्ने सबै स्वागत सत्कार साथी-संगी भेलागरी रमाइलो गर्न र सेलरोटी खान पनि परेको नै छ - जे जस्तै नै होस् किजापुजा गरौं सबै मिली कारण भोलिको के गर्नु सुर्ता जब थाहा नै छैन यसको केही ! Enter The Decade of the Newah People
As I read the message this morning to share with you all, “I shall not waste my days in trying to prolong them.” by Ian Fleming why not me too come out with my ideas with “The Decade of the Newah People” which Tribhuvan Tuladhar proposed from WNO. The Power of One make me believe that since we cannot devote to all the family, I should start with my own well taking the adage that the Charity begins at home. We know home is where your heart is and also that each member of your home adds up to make the family and each family together become the society. Here if you try to understand the role and contribution of a single person, single home, single family, single society and single community that make the country, you can well understand what I mean to share with you all – the Power of One. Era gone by and the one we are in as well can give you in proof ample to support my view. Some may think that we should not waste time thinking of the past and to bask in its glory but why should we not as that was the achievement our predecessors had, to reach us all this far. Somewhere we have been way laid or due to our own lethargy, unconsciousness or even failure, we have come to this point of disappointment unrealized! No, instead we should have this sunny side up to see light on the other end of the tunnel to come out of and to be there motivated and inspired coming together towards brighter future! Dear all, An important and pertinent issue has been raised by Bhaju Suresh in www.nepalmandal.com (link in support also at www.karunaguthi.com) that needs to be reached to all there in Sikkim as well. I have tried to encapsulate taking just five lines from the page and attempted to put it what it means to those not familiar with our mother language. It says, “We need not have a sait ( a time auspicious - as such since the day and a festival is itself auspicious) not only for Kijapuja but also for Mohni (Dashain) to put or accept tika. Mhapuja has been a festival to all the Newars followed traditionally for ages together. Now we have accepted it as the Festival of the Newar Unity. Our Kijapuja is only on the third day (Nov 8, 2010) - two days later of Laxmi Puja (Nov 6, 2010) and a day after Mhapuja (Nov 7, 2010). There is no reason to have two minds about it” "किजापुजा जक मखु, मोहनिया चालं कुन्हु नं झी साइत स्वयाः सिन्हः तीम्वाः । म्हपुजा धइगु सम्पूर्ण नेवाःतय्सं परम्परांनिसें हना वयाच्वंगु पर्व । आः वयाः थ्व पर्वयात नेवाःतय् एकताया पर्व धकाः नं स्वीकार यायेधुंकल । झीगु किजापुजा लक्ष्मीपुजायां कंस कुन्हु अले म्हपुजायां कन्हय् कुन्हु हे लाइ । उकी दोमन यानाच्वनेमाःगु कारण हे मदु ।" Even for Mhapuja no sait is needed. We have to sit, like for Kijapuja, before a mandap and follow the tradition step by step that we have been doing it there too in Sikkim as well. Some years ago complimentary copies of the book Mha Puja by Bhaju Satya Mohan Joshi in Nepali and Newar have been distributed in Sikkim and Darjeeling courtesy Bhaju Indra Bhakta Shrestha of Kathmandu and it has helped us a lot to know more about the festival. Yours sincerely, for KARUNA DEVI SMARAK DHARMARTH GUTHI, RAJIVA SHANKER SHRESTA As I try getting together the fellow Newar fraternity world wide taking the benefit and advantage of the internet through facebook, geni.com and recently through our own www.karunaguthi.com duly considering the efforts of the bodies like NOA, WNO, PPGUK, guthiaustralia, Japan, elohan publications, nepalmandal.com, etc. and revived, reinvigorated and newly elected SNG back home in Sikkim, the news of the sudden demise last Sunday of an stalwart, D. N. Pradhan heading Akhil Bharatiya Newar Sangthan (ABNS) from Darjeeling shocked us all. With more than seventeen years of his dedicated efforts, he was to lead his team on 26th later this month to Kolkata to stress the state government there the need for the status of Tribal community to the Newars. Intriguing enough, in stead they had been asked to relinquish/surrender the current status of Other Backward Class that I know of being in existence since my days in the Darjeeling Government College in 1962 when I got the Central merit scholarship under this category. Later claiming a similar status, I had asked the then Assistant Magistrate in the Court (the Secretariat was then known as) at Gangtok late L.B. Basnet for a similar certificate on this ground. Sikkim was still a Himalayan kingdom then.
ABNS was constituted in 1993 and D. N. Pradhan has been at the helm of affairs holding the post continuously ever since. Though he wanted himself to be relieved, seriously for past few years, and some one to take over the reign to let in fresh blood in the organization, his colleagues were rest assured that there was none of his height and caliber to fit in his shoes. It was really a great of D. N. Pradhan (born May 1927) in his 84 years of age to lead the organization at all India level that saw him visiting different throughout the country to get the Newars united and to come with a body under his umbrella of ABNS. It is learnt that this status is accorded only when an organization has its unit in at least three states of the country. It was his efforts that saw the Newars together in West Bengal, Assam, Sikkim and in Meghalay perhaps. He was to meet soon the newly elected officials of Sikkim Newah Guthi at Gangtok as well. |
